Interested in becoming a volunteer?

Looking for ways to give back to your community? Whether you can give a few hours of your time or commit to much more, there are many exciting ways you can give your time and expertise to benefit TELL. By joining the TELL team, you are doing good for others, as well as for yourself, your job, your business, and your everyday life. Anyone with a willingness to help and be part of a team is welcome!

Examples of current volunteer opportunities:

1. TELL Life Line Counselor Training
TELL’s next comprehensive 12 week Life Line Counselor Training program begins in September 2009 and offers a great chance for personal growth as well as an opportunity to provide confidential counseling and support to the community.Become a volunteer telephone counselor.

2. Event Managers
Do you have a flair for events? TELL is currently looking for highly motivated and flexible volunteers to join the planning committee for its 2009 Connoisseurs Auction to be held on November 6th. Tasks include assisting with donations, logistics, volunteers and coordination of an area on the day. Volunteers must be in Tokyo from September to November and be able to attend a few evening meetings and also Friday, Nov. 6. To learn more about this position contact:

3. Graphic Design Team
TELL is currently looking for experienced Graphic Designers to assist with fundraising event and general PR materials. Designers should be have strong Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop skills and be able to produce high quality materials from concept to print. For more information, please contact:

4. TELL Online Directory Checkers
TELL launched an online Directory in September last year called Wiki-TELL and needs checkers to ensure the data in the directory is up to date. To learn more about this position contact:

5. IT Support
Support TELL by sharing your IT expertise with a team of TELL IT volunteers. To learn more about this position contact:

6. Newsletter Editor
TELL produces a quarterly newsletter, available online and in hard copy, that provides information on TELL services and events, and informs the community about current mental health topics and issues affecting the English-speaking community in Japan. We are looking for a creative and dynamic person that can work with staff to coordinate the magazine’s publication. Duties include setting submission deadlines, editing content, proofreading and piecing together the newsletter using MS Publisher. If you are interested contact:

7. Volunteer Receptionist
TELL is looking for a bi-lingual volunteer to support our office staff for a few hours each week. Work includes answering the phone, helping with research projects and general office duties. If you are interested contact:

8. Website Volunteer
A great volunteer opportunity for anyone with website development and maintenance experience. The TELL’s website is used to provide information on TELL services and events, and inform the community about current mental health issues.
